Well, it's that time of year again where Google doles out the readies to the young and eager of the programming world.

Thanks Google and thanks to all those involved in setting it up.

There's plenty been said about GSoC in blogs already so I'm not going to repeat. I just wanted to add a personal novelty factor and sense of achievement.

As part of the PHP TestFest we're organising an evening PHPT test-writing event. The purpose of TestFest is to help improve the code coverage of the test suite for the PHP language itself. No experience of phpt tests is required.

• Where: pingVision LLC
• When: From 6pm to 9pm on May 21st 2008
• Aim: By the end of the evening, everyone who attends will have written at least one test.
• Focus: TBD.
