The National Interest

With an archaic website that was virtually non-functional, The National Interest magazine needed to (re)invent its online presence

New home page

The new website was designed to emphasize both daily web content and the print magazine articles.

The Challenge

The National Interest, the Washington, DC foreign policy magazine, needed a new website, one that better spoke to their established brand and that functionally addressed the needs of staff and readers both. The magazine had long since outgrown their previous content management system and each issue's publication made the discrepancy more apparent.

Weavolution

A robust online crafts community needed a site with the beauty and functionality to match that of their own work

The New Site

The new Weavolution represented a re-architecting and redesign, as well as refactoring of broken code.

The Challenge

The old site was running a hacked Drupal implementation that posed many problems.

The original site was not serving its community well. Usability and aesthetics were a concern, especially for a community of craftspeople and artists, many of whom spend very little time on the web.

California Watch

A new initiative to provide in-depth investigative reporting, combined with guides and resources for citizens to get involved, lights a path towards "new journalism."

The home page was designed to draw people in to the site's rich content, without cluttering up the page.

The main topic areas have their own featured stories — a mix of investigative articles, blog posts and data sets.

Prior to launching PINGV Creative, our team members have led consulting, design and/or development on literally scores of sites.

Pregnancy.org needed a new look, with an architecture affording easier content moderation and site administration functionality. The site won a W3 Award and a Horizon Interactive Award for design. Creative Director: Laura Scott. Operations: Katherine Lawrence.

Knight News Challenge was a site designed and developed in a 2-week time span. Creative Director: Laura Scott. Operations: Katherine Lawrence.

Laura Scott's own blog needed an overhaul and new look. This site reflects her own artwork.

The framing design by Laura reflects a "doodling" technique she has used for years in her own pen-and-ink artwork.

The design embraces the 960 grid, providing for a balanced composition as well as affording rapid implementation.
