DrupalCon Boston 2008
Unboxing the Sun SPARC Enterprise T1000 server
At DrupalCon Boston 2008, we had the great pleasure of winning the grand prize as the Top Showcase Site, for PopSci.com. Because we were so busy making presentations and otherwise engaged in the incredible DrupalCon sessions, winning this was an unexpected surprise. The submissions were judged by Chris Bryant, Scott Mattoon (Sun Microsystems) and Fish McGill (Harmonix). Sun posted the ad hoc post-plenary interview here.
On Friday, we stole about 10 minutes from a very busy day to unbox the Sun SPARC Enterprise T1000 server that was the prize. Wow!

Back from DrupalCon, with renewed energy and an award
It's been a week since
DrupalCon Boston 2008. I started this post a week ago, but have been fighting a cold all week and am only now having the extra energy outside of work hours to write up this little summary.
The event was the largest in Drupal history (so far). We were honored to take part as Platinum Sponsors, but the event was a collaborative effort of so many companies and individuals, it was truly a community event.
Highlights:
- company: Sponsorships
- tags: Drupal, Dries Buytaert, conferences, awards, DrupalCon, Popular Science, PopSci.com, DrupalCon Boston 2008, Boston, RDF, Sun
Drupal growth, semantically tested
The RDF initiative for Drupal 7 announced by Dries last week at DrupalCon Boston 2008 has been getting a lot of interesting attention.

PopSci case study presentation today at DrupalCon
Today in Boston at DrupalCon we're presenting a case study on the development of Drupal-powered PopSci.com.
We'll be talking about what modules we used, the custom modules we developed (and why we developed them), import challenges and things we did to help the site scale well.
If you're at DrupalCon, hope you can make it! If not, watch Drupal.org. We'll be posting a written case study when the dust settles next week.
Boston-bound for DrupalCon

This coming week nearly the entire pingVision family will be at DrupalCon Boston 2008. Some of us have been at previous events, doing presentations and otherwise just getting involved (not to mention taking in the scenery). This time we're coming as Platinum Sponsors and presenters.
First, the new faces:
Al Steffen joined us about a year ago, but never had the opportunity to travel to any of the Drupal events outside of the greater Denver area. In fact, I just learned today, he hasn't even seen a proper ocean. Some may know Al online as Zarabadoo, the handle he uses on IRC and Drupal.org. He's the man behind the nicely semantic Hunchbaque theme (ugly on the outside, beautiful on the inside).
